Your Villa is located a short drive from one of Costa Rica’s prime SNORKELING AND DIVING destinations, Isla del Cano National Park. It is one of the jewels of Costa Rica’s National Park System. There are 5 coral reefs containing 15 species of stony coral, creating a marine wonderland for divers and snorkelers to explore. Lobster and giant conch live in these waters, and countless fish, sea turtles, humpback whales, and dolphins have been seen near the island. In addition to its marine wonders, the park’s mysterious archeological ruins, tall evergreen forests, pre-historic cemetery, and enigmatic round stones sculpted by the Indians who once lived there, all beckon you to explore.

CAÑO ISLAND BIOLOGICAL RESERVE: Scuba Diving

Caño Island Biological Reserve is located 15 km. off the Osa Peninsula on the Southern Pacific coast of Coast Rica. The border of the island has white sandy beaches and a well protected inshore reef makes it the best scuba diving spot in Coast Rica.

Visibility of about 20 meters (65 ft.), assures clear sightings of the the fish, turtles, manta rays, dolphins and whales that call Caño Island. The great variety of marine life around the reef include: White Tipped Reef Shark, Mantas, Bluefin Trevally, Snappers, schools of Jacks, Rays, Eels and a lot more...

Includes 2 dives, a certified instructor, dive equipment, biological reserve entrance fees, lunch and snacks, and conservation material. Caño Island is a pristine island in the Pacific Ocean. It hosts the most biodiverse coral reef in the Pacific of Costa Rica, is a nursery for hawksbill turtles, and a home for an incredible number of marine species: sharks, nudibranchs, turtles, octopus, tropical fish, seahorses, etc. Situated right within an important migration route, Caño Island also welcomes numerous species of whales, dolphins, manta rays, bull sharks, hammerhead sharks, whale sharks, the list goes on… A little paradise in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.
You will learn about the marine ecosystem, understand how to preserve it, and help us collect precious data on the quality of water, turtle migration routes, marine invertebrates, coral health and much more. Have a positive impact while enjoying nature's wonders.

 The person needs to be a certified diver with a minimum Open Water. 50% is required to reserve, and the remaining 50% would be paid with CC or cash at the tour operator's office.

Cancellations with more than 48 hours before the start of the first day of the activity: FULL REFUND or you can move the date of the activity according to the existing availability. Cancellations made less than 48 hours before the first day of the activity, the TOTAL AMOUNT of the activity must be paid.

Caño Island Snorkeling Tour

Caño Island is an amazing marine biological reserve located at 53 km from the shore with virgin blue waters making it the perfect tropical paradise for snorkelers and divers. It is home to and spectacular variety of stunning marine flora and fauna and is famous for having Costa Rica's largest concentration of coral-building organisms along the Pacific Ocean. The meeting point for this trip is main office tour operator where there is coffee and snacks available and included in the trip. (Arrival time suggested at 6.40 am). Then you have to try the snorkeling equipment and our guide will perform a safety briefing, review of the itinerary and make sure the safety vest fit to everyone. The boat departs at 7:30 AM from Uvita beach and has a duration of approximately 1,5 hours. During the boat transit to Cano Island there is a chance to spot Dolphins, sea turtles or Whales depending on the season of the year.

Once we arrive to Cano Island two snorkeling sessions will be performed in two different locations that are chosen by our captain and guides depending on the conditions of the day. After finishing the snorkeling sessions, the guide will do an informative review of the marine species observed during the activity. During this trip lunch is provided but it will be held on and neighboring Island named VIOLINES ISLAND only if the ocean conditions are normal if not we will return directly to Uvita beach and set up the lunch on the beach.

Price:  $150 adults $95 children under 10 years old. Must be paid in advance.
Time: The average time we spend for snorkeling is about 2.5 hours or more depending on the visibility and on the ability of the participants
